This is a detailed description of the Timeline of a Stitch-And-Glue canoe.
The total building time for the canoe Hiawatha HC16 by bateau.com was 40 hours, spread over a couple of months. After each glueing, laminating and fairing the epoxy has to cure for one or two days before continueing with the next step. So often a break is required after just one hour of work. It is not possible to build the boat within a week.
After 6.5 hours of work all hull panels were glued together and it already looked like a real boat. More than half of the time was spent on the surface finish like fairing, sanding and painting.
